TRUEME® COUNSELING GROUP

Life After Ozempic: GLP-1 Relapse Prevention & Lasting Change Group

A group for individuals using or transitioning off GLP-1 medications — addressing the psychological, emotional, and identity dimensions of weight loss that the medication alone cannot reach.

ABOUT THIS GROUP

The medication changed your body. This group helps you change everything else.

GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro have transformed the landscape of weight loss — producing results that were previously out of reach for many people and reshaping how medicine approaches obesity and metabolic health. But what the prescription does not come with is equally important: the psychological work of understanding your relationship with food, your body, your identity, and the behaviors and beliefs that weight loss alone does not automatically resolve.

Most people who use GLP-1 medications are not prepared for what comes with the weight loss — or what comes after it. The identity shift of inhabiting a different body. The complicated emotions that surface when food is no longer a primary coping mechanism. The fear of regaining weight when the medication ends or becomes inaccessible. The relationships that change. The internal narrative that does not automatically update when the number on the scale does.

This group was built for exactly that territory — the psychological and emotional work that determines whether GLP-1-assisted weight loss becomes a genuine, lasting transformation or a cycle that begins again. It is clinically facilitated, evidence-based, and designed around the specific challenges faced by individuals at every stage of GLP-1 treatment — whether you are newly starting, mid-journey, transitioning off, or working to maintain your results long term.

WHAT YOU WILL GET FROM THIS GLP-1 GROUP

What this healing group provides

GLP-1 medications address the biology of hunger and metabolism. This group addresses the psychology — the beliefs, behaviors, emotions, and identity shifts that determine what lasts.

Relapse prevention

Evidence-based strategies for sustaining behavioral change and managing the psychological risk of weight regain — before, during, and after GLP-1 treatment.

Emotional eating & coping

Understanding the role food has played in managing emotions — and building alternative coping tools for when the medication is no longer suppressing appetite

Body image & identity

Processing the psychological experience of significant weight loss — the identity shift, the complicated feelings, and the internal narrative that does not update automatically.

Shame & self-worth

Addressing the deeply held beliefs about body, worth, and self-discipline that weight loss alone does not resolve — and that frequently drive the behavioral patterns behind regain.

Sustainable habit building

Creating behavioral and psychological foundations that support lasting health — not dependent on a prescription but genuinely integrated into how you live.

Community & shared experience

The specific experience of GLP-1-assisted weight loss is still new and often isolating. This group connects you with others navigating the same territory — with clinical guidance throughout.

FAQ - GLP-1 GROUP

Frequently Asked Questions About GLP-1 Group

Honest answers from our licensed therapists — before you take the first step.

Do I need to be currently taking a GLP-1 medication to join this group?

No — this group is designed for individuals at every stage of the GLP-1 journey. Whether you are just beginning, mid-treatment, transitioning off, or working to maintain results after discontinuing — this group has something meaningful to offer. The psychological and behavioral work of sustainable weight management is relevant regardless of where you are in your medication timeline.

Is this group a diet program or a nutrition plan?

No — and this distinction is important. This is a clinically facilitated psychological support community, not a diet program or medical weight management service. We do not prescribe medications, provide meal plans, or offer medical advice. What we provide is the psychological, emotional, and behavioral work that determines whether physical weight loss translates into lasting change — the mindset shifts, coping tools, identity work, and relapse prevention strategies that no prescription can supply on its own.

What does "relapse prevention" mean in this context?

Relapse prevention refers to the psychological and behavioral work of reducing the risk of weight regain — particularly after GLP-1 treatment ends. Research shows a significant proportion of weight lost through GLP-1 medication is regained within one to two years of discontinuation, primarily because the behavioral and psychological factors underlying weight gain have not been addressed. This group builds the internal tools to make results last.

Is everything shared in the group completely confidential?

Yes — and this is one of the most clinically important dimensions. For many people, food has served as a primary mechanism for managing emotions, stress, and comfort — and GLP-1 medications can surface those underlying patterns in disorienting ways. This community addresses the psychological relationship with food directly, building awareness, alternative coping tools, and emotional processing around what arises when a primary coping mechanism is suddenly no longer available.

How do I join — and what does the enrollment process look like?
