Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

EAP — Confidential, professional mental health support for your workforce — because a team that feels genuinely supported performs, stays, and grows.

What is EAP Testing?

EAP or Employee Assistance Program is a workplace benefit that provides employees with confidential, professional mental health support at no cost to them. EAPs are designed to help employees navigate the personal challenges that affect their wellbeing and, inevitably, their performance at work — including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, burnout, substance use, and major life transitions.

TrueMe® Counseling partners with businesses of all sizes to deliver EAP services backed by over a decade of clinical expertise. Our licensed therapists provide short-term, solution-focused counseling sessions that are accessible, confidential, and tailored to the individual. We also offer consultation for managers and HR leaders navigating sensitive workplace situations, and group workshops on communication, stress management, and resilience — tools that benefit the entire organization, not just individuals in crisis.

EAP as an Investment

Investing in employee mental health is not just the right thing to do — it is a sound business decision. Research consistently shows that untreated mental health challenges cost employers significantly through absenteeism, reduced productivity, and higher turnover. A well-designed EAP reduces those costs while sending a clear message to your team: their wellbeing matters here. When employees feel supported as whole people, they show up more focused, more engaged, and more committed to the work they do.

Common signs EAP may be for your business:

If you identify with 2 or more of these, you may be a good candidate for our testing and assessment.

OUR CLINICAL APPROACH

How we treat you — and why it works

Most therapy fails because it’s generic. At TrueMe® Counseling, our licensed therapists use a structured, evidence-based framework built around your specific needs, history, and goals — not a one-size-fits-all program.Whether you’re across the street or across the state, we’re here — in person or virtually throughout California.

Clinical Assessment & Root-Cause Mapping

We begin with a thorough clinical assessment — identifying your specific challenges, personal history, thought patterns, and underlying triggers. This isn't a generic intake form. It's the diagnostic foundation that everything else is built on.

Cognitive Restructuring

Using CBT and other evidence-based modalities, we help you identify and challenge the distorted thinking patterns keeping you stuck — whether that's anxiety, depression, low self-worth, or relationship difficulties. You learn to respond to life differently, from the inside out.

Behavioral Intervention

Insight alone doesn't create change — behavior does. We use structured techniques to help you break the cycles, habits, and avoidance patterns that have been holding you back. This is where meaningful, real-world transformation begins.

Personalized Treatment Planning

No two people are the same — and neither are their treatment plans. Your therapist builds a roadmap tailored specifically to your needs, goals, and pace. Every session is purposeful, intentional, and designed to move you forward.

Progress Tracking & Plan Adjustment

Healing isn't linear — and your therapist knows that. Progress is regularly reviewed and your treatment plan is adjusted in real time to ensure you're always moving in the right direction at the right pace for you.

Resilience Building & Long-Term Independence

The final stage equips you with a personalized, lifelong toolkit — regulation strategies, early warning recognition, and sustainable coping skills — so that when life gets hard, you have everything you need to handle it. The goal is independence, not dependency on therapy.

YOUR THERAPY JOURNEY

What to expect in therapy

Starting therapy can feel intimidating — especially when you’re already carrying so much. Here’s exactly what the process looks like, step by step.

Free consultation call

Before anything else, you’ll have a brief, no-pressure call to share what you’re going through and ask any questions you have. There’s no commitment — just a conversation to make sure we’re the right fit for you.

Your first session

Your first session is a relaxed, open conversation — not a test. Your therapist will take time to understand your history, your current experience, and what you’re hoping to achieve. Many clients leave their first session already feeling a sense of relief just from being heard.

A personalized treatment plan

Your therapist will work with you to create a plan tailored specifically to your needs — not a generic program, but a personalized roadmap designed around your unique history, goals, and what you’re going through right now.

Ongoing sessions & real tools

Each session builds on the last. Using CBT and other evidence-based methods, your therapist will help you identify the thought patterns and behaviors holding you back — and equip you with practical tools you can use in real life between sessions.

Tracking your progress

Healing isn’t always linear — and your therapist knows that. Progress is regularly reviewed and your plan is adjusted as needed to ensure you’re always moving in the adirection at the right pace for you.

Life beyond anxiety

The goal of therapy isn’t just symptom relief — it’s lasting transformation. You’ll finish therapy with a deeper understanding of yourself, a toolkit you carry for life, and the confidence to face whatever comes next.

FAQ - EAP

Frequently Asked Questions About EAP

Honest answers from our licensed therapists — before you take the first step.

1. How does an EAP maintain employee confidentiality?

Confidentiality is the cornerstone of an effective EAP — and it is non-negotiable in our practice. Employee counseling sessions are entirely private and protected by HIPAA regulations and California state law. We do not share any identifying information about who has accessed EAP services, what was discussed, or the nature of any employee’s presenting concerns with employers, HR, or managers. The only exceptions are the legally mandated disclosures that apply to all clinical care — imminent risk of harm to self or others — which are explained clearly to employees at the start of their engagement with us.

2. How many sessions does the EAP cover per employee?

Session allocation is determined as part of the EAP partnership agreement and is customized based on the size of your organization, your budget, and your workforce’s needs. We work with employers to structure a program that provides meaningful, sufficient support — not a token number of sessions that doesn’t allow for real progress. Where an employee’s needs extend beyond the EAP allocation, we provide warm referrals to appropriate ongoing care, including within TrueMe® Counseling where suitable.

3. Can EAP services be used for relationship or family issues — not just work stress?

Absolutely. The challenges that affect employee performance and wellbeing are rarely limited to the workplace. Our EAP covers the full range of personal concerns — including relationship difficulties, family conflict, parenting challenges, grief and loss, financial stress, and major life transitions. We also extend EAP benefits to employees’ immediate family members where this is included in the partnership agreement, because whole-family support is one of the most effective investments an employer can make in their workforce.

4. How do employees access EAP services — and how quickly can they be seen?

Access is designed to be as simple and barrier-free as possible. Employees contact TrueMe® Counseling directly — by phone or online — and are matched with an appropriate therapist based on their presenting needs and preferences. We aim to offer an initial appointment within five to seven business days for standard referrals and prioritize urgent presentations appropriately. Virtual sessions are available throughout California, which means location and scheduling are rarely barriers to timely access.

5. How do we get started in EAP— and what does the partnership process look like?

Getting started begins with a consultation call to understand your organization’s size, industry, workforce demographics, and specific needs. From there, we design a tailored EAP package that fits your budget and goals — including session allocation, service scope, and any additional components like group workshops or manager training. We handle the clinical infrastructure entirely. Your role is to communicate the benefit to your employees and ensure they know it is available. We provide onboarding materials, promotional resources, and ongoing reporting to help you do that effectively. Contact us at (818) 964-1806 to schedule your consultation.
